Christmas is just around the corner...yup I said it...its just around the corner.

With Halloween now a distant memory we are all beginning to see the Christmas decorations surfacing on all the store shelves and the weather getting cooler.

We are beginning to think of new creative ways to decorate the house and unique gifts to buy for our loved ones

With all that said I like to introduce you to Asil Designs new line of "Decrative Bobble Hooks"

~My wonderful mom came all the way from Ontario to help me out with the show because hubby is busy with harvest and it was a bit of a travel....it was so great to have her here!

Just So Damn Exciting...

Okay, so I realize that to most of the world this is just normal in your everyday life.

...but for me this is amazing....finally at the ripe age of 32 I got my first cell phone. I just got it lastnight and I am beyond ecstatic about it...I can't put it down or get the smile off my face.

I always joked that I thought I may have been one of the only humans left on earth that knew that a

payphone now costs 50 cents to use, and finding one....well that's another story all in itself. Nevermind the way people stare at you while your on a payphone ...like you poor child you...did your cell phone die? Me: No I don't have one.

Well I bit the bullet and I finally do YIPPY...I couldn't be happier

Good Riddance payphones accross the country...I will no longer be needing you!

I know, I know...I've been away for a few days, I've missed you too.

Things have been a little busy around here, what with getting ready for my upcoming shows and all...and to be honest I just haven't been in blogging mode...so today I thought I'd switch things up a bit

(I've never been one to stick to a routine anyway, so get used to it!)

I have the attention span of a 2 year old and I find routines get boring real quick!

So today I'd like to share with you some uber cute packaging ideas

I just might use this one for something in the near future...it is so darn adorable

hmmmmmm....what could I use it for?

...and what about these neat little gift bags...if you can believe it, my super awesome bridesmaids made over 60 little gift bags filled with candy just like these ones for each of my bridal shower guests they were so cute and the girls loved them

These earrings are so great because they are sooooo light weight and everyday wearable not to mention nutral and upcycled!

How domesticated am I?

The weather has been cool and the feeling of baking is in the air, I just love to bake!!! All summer it is much too hot here to do any sort of indoor cooking so at this time of year I go a little nuts!

Went for a walk in our back yard a few days ago and collected a bunch of apples to make a deeeelish apple pie for the hubby (I'm not much of a pie eater, but I love to make it!) Good thing he loves to eat it.

Not a real attractive picture...but I sure do wish I had a 1940's red polka-dot apron to go with the red lipstick

Sometimes I just need to get out and clear my mind to find new inspiration and I find a walk works best for me!

I'm trying to get into the routine of taking a daily walk, it's good for my mind, body and soul!

Balance....

....definately something I struggle with on a daily bases. Three years ago when hubby and I made our "big" move from one side of the country to the other. We decided that it would be a good time for me to take my jewelry business to the next level by working at it full time....I had never anticipated it to be so challenging.

Now 3 years later...with many ups, and many downs....I am learning more then ever how balance and confidence is the most important part of my daily job. Often people think ahhhhh...how nice it would be to work from home...not realizing the struggles you face on a daily bases.

I have to say that running my own business is the hardest most exhausting thing I have ever done, both mentally and emotionally. Especially because it has been such a life long dream, and failure to me is not an option! A whole lot of passion goes into everyday and there is a huge amount of pressure you put on yourself to succeed! The only one you can blame at the end of the day is yourself. Your brain is working 24/7...and one of the hardest parts is not having a reliable pay cheque every 2 weeks, which in turn plays on your confidence, often feeling like an emotional roller coaster with extreme highs followed by extreme lows!

Another VERY difficult part to my job is

that everyday I have to haul my butt out of bed (thats not the hard part) but pumping myself up is. I have to tell myself that what I design is beautiful and of course people will want to buy it. I have to be the accountant, the PR, the shipping and receiving, the boss, the worker, the creator, and above all the designer all in one day....and then wake up and do it all over again, so that, like the rest of the world. I can contribute to my family and most of all FEEL and BE successful!!!

All I ask is that people respect that I actually have a job too, just like them!!....and YES it is a “REAL” job!. Wearing all these hats has been challenging none the less, but finding balance proves time and time again to be the most challenging yet rewarding part of my job. Keeping it all straight is a full-time job in and of itself.

Success is not the key to happiness,

Display and Dinner

And it's show time...as you can see around this time of year my house takes shape as a mini shop as I transform the area to practice my display options for my upcoming shows. I'm sure it drives my husband crazy!

When doing events it's very important to have an idea of your booth space available and display ideas...this helps tremendously with set up time. You will often find things will always change and be a little different then you expected...so it's aways a good idea to be prepared and have a few back up plans for the sudden changes

Things are starting to take shape and I'm happy with the results!

My sign came in just in time for the first show of the season and I couldn't be happier...over all I'm very happy with the way the display turned out...eventually I would like to buy more white busts to display the necklaces on but for now I think this worked out nicely!

After the busy week-end it was great to come home and relax while hubby made this fabulous lamb shank dinner...today I plan to get all my display stuff organized for the next show in October, catch up on housework and laundry and hopefully get to photographing and listing some new designs! The next few weeks will be a whirlwind of designing....but for now I need to take a little creative break to make space in my noggin for more ideas!

Tuesdays Treasures & Tomatos From Our Garden

As I've mentioned before I come from a very talented family...so naturally my "Tuesdays Treasures" is a gift I got years ago, only this time this one is from my older sis Michelle

I told you....pure talent right???

This is a mask that she made for me and was a gift that she gave me for Christmas years ago and as I said before another item that I will haul around the countryside...no matter where we live and move this is a special piece that will stay close to me forever and makes me smile when I look at it!

YAY... it's Friday

1.) I am so excited to announce the upcoming "Ultimate Womens Fair" at the Penticton trade and convention center that I will be a part of this year!

I hope you all will come out and enjoy this show...I am working on many new designs and excited to share them all with you.

2.) I''ll tell ya...when it rains it pours...I've got so much on the go right now, many shows coming up and possibly the farmers market for the last month that it runs. I'm not complaining...I do love it...I just hope I can keep up

3.) My mother-in-law is in town for a visit...I hope she hasn't been too bored while Adam and I have had to work during the days.

4.) Feels like Sat cause hubbies taking the day off to golf with his mom...he's in the kitchen making breakfast, smells so yummy!...we usually make breakfast together every Sat...what a nice feeling!

Yummy fresh from our garden tomato salad we had for dinner the other night...the weathers been so hot lately that our appitite has been small so this salad was a great switch up for dinner

Trusty Tip Thursday...

As some of you may know my husband is a winemaker, so naturally we have ALOT of wine around the house and often do much of our cooking with it....so "Trusty Tip #2" is to use up those left over bottles of wine lying around the house by boiling the alcohol out of them and freezing them in an ice tray for easy grab solutions to your next sauce or recipe that calls for wine! This tip is so convenient and easy I just love this trick, so next time you find you have left over wine that won't be drank or is a couple days past it's drinking time try this trusty trick and get cookin!

Wine Line Wednesday & The Comfort of Home

As I said in a previous post I have many "Wine Line" designs to share with you

here I'd like to share one of my favs...(more on this topic and photos can be seen here:: ) Well hard to say that cause I love so many of them but this necklace is up there on my favourite list! this design runs vertically and is strung on a 24" sterling silver chain...All "Wine Line" necklaces can be made with an assortment of colored czech glass flowers and are great to compliment any outfit!

These designs are not yet available in my shop...but if you are interested pls contact me and I would be happy to create one just for you!

In my home I just love to have fresh flowers...you will often find them in my bathroom, living room and dining room...they make me feel alive and happy...thay are so beautiful!

Trusty Tip Thursday - Tip #1

If your not a waxer - this tip may come in handy!
When it comes to eyebrows I don't really like to wax, I hate the inbetween stages of letting them grow in long enough to grasp any hair.
So...I opt for the plucking method!

Which brings me to Tip #1

~ ALWAYS leave a pair of travel tweezers in your glove compartment

The car is a great place to pluck away at those strays...
A) Because the natrual light from the sun doesn't allow any itty bitty hairs left unplucked.
B) The mirror on your visor is nice and close...you can see EVERYTHING!
and best of all...
C) You can get it done while your waiting...I don't know about you...but I find myself waiting in the car often! Whether your picking up the kids from school or your husband from work, there's always a spare minute to stay beautiful!

Tuesdays Treasures...

I come from a very talented family...needless to say many of my treasures stem from that! The first treasure I would like to share with you are these totally awesome handmade "DREAM" letters my younger sister Janice gave me years ago as a gift...not only did they bring many happy tears to my eyes that Christmas morning because they are so beautiful and handmade by her, but also because I didn't even know she was listening when I simply mentioned buying some for my bedroom...then she goes and tops it by making them for me...are you kidding me how awesome is that! Sometimes the best gifts are the ones that are so unexpected...like this one, I just LOVE them!

As you may have noticed, I'm not one to sell "sets". I find too many people have their own opinion on wearing matchy matchy...so I like to sell my designs seperately. This then gives my buyers the oportunity to mix and match as they choose...and find what is just right for them!

What you will notice is that I like to design unique items that will match and make great sets for those interested... here is a super example of two items made seperately but can easily be worn together and look fantastic! YAY....Friday again...

~ Feels like this week was so long...I sure am glad it's Friday I've been a day ahead of myself all week.

~ Allergies are slowly starting to dissipate...heres hoping they will completly go away very soon...I'm exhausted and would really love to sleep and breath again!

~ Need to get out in the garden and do yard work this week-end, things are really starting to over grow...Sunday will be a good day since it's the Iron Man triathlon here in the Okanagan and we live right on route, leaving the house on Sunday is always stressful due to the craziness...staying home and setting up our lawn chairs at the end of our driveway to cheers on all the "super crazy mad" men & women is the best idea. Hopefully I will get some yard work done too!

~The "Bottletop Ring" above was a piece of glass Adam picked up on one of our walks on the beach...it was his idea to make a ring out of it, so that's just what I did...i think it's really neat...super unique and definately a conversation piece...I will keep this one for myself!

~ My allergies have been so bad I've found it hard to enjoy anything lately...even a sunset as beautiful as this! I have to admit there have been a few tears 30% pain and discomfort, 20% no sleep and 50% FRUSTRATION!!!

~ I'm hoping to get something exciting in the mail today...is it a bad thing that checking the mail is often the highlight of the day (so anyone reading feel free to send me snail mail)

~ I miss my family & wish I could just invite them over for a big BBQ this week-end!

(YES...this includes the Pearce side and the Howard-Judge family)

Worth A Look!

Over the long week-end hubby and I decided to take some much need quality time to ourselves and spend it at the beach with a waterside picnic, sunshine and great conversation. Instead of hiting the beach that we are so lucky to have right outside our doorstep ,we decided to head south for a little adventure.

Before jetting off we had read a bit about this tourist attraction called "Spotted Lake"
since it was on the way, we decided to work it into our adventure.

Spotted Lake is very highly concentrated with numerous different minerals. It contains some of the highest quantities (in the world) of magnesium sulfate, calcium and sodium sulphates. It also contains extremely high concentrations of 8 other minerals as well as some small doses of four others such as silver and titanium.

Most of the water in the lake evaporates over the summer, leaving behind all the minerals. Large “spots” on the lake appear and depending on the mineral composition at the time, the spots will be different colors. The spots are made mainly of magnesium sulfate, which crystallizes in the summer. In the summer only the minerals in the lake remain, and they harden to form natural “walkways” around and between the spots.

Originally known to the First Nations of the Okanagan Valley as Khiluk, they considered it a sacred site, primarily as they regarded the lake's waters as possessing therapeutic value. The lake’s minerals were also put to use in the manufacture of ammunition for World War I.

The lake and its surrounding land were not actually owned by the first Nations; it was owned by the Ernest Smith Family for about 40 years. Despite this, the First Nations were very protective of the lake; so protective that when, in 1979, Smith attempted to have a spa at the lake, they attempted to buy the lake so they could keep it as a sacred site.

After over 20 years of trying but failing to convince Smith to sell the land, they finally did make a deal in late October 2001, when they bought 22 hectares of land for a total of $720,000. The First Nations paid $150,000 while the Indian Affairs Deprtment paid the remainder.

We had a great day and I'm so happy we stopped to see such a cool piece of history on the way!

WOW....have things ever been a little crazy around here!

We've been so pre-occupied with company and the craziness of summer that I haven't been able to find the time to blog about all the things I've wanted to in the past few weeks...feels like forever since I've sat at my computer to "BLOG"

So in the next few weeks I intend to fill in all the empty blog space I've left...I have many things to share and new designs to introduce, I hope you will check back every so often to see what"s NEW!

...but for now I better get designing and completing some orders....sure do wish I still had my niece and little helper Miss Maija around to help me out with all the computer work I have lined up, heres a few snapshots of her hard at work on her visit here a few weeks ago...

she's not even 2 yet and look how she holds the mouse...too cute!

I miss her so much and can't wait to see her in December!!

Bitter Sweet Update...

- BITTER -

Well we went to see our pup "to be" over the week-end and there has been a slight bump in the road...

(can't say I didn't expect this) only because we were so excited and timing seemed perfect...being the beginning of summer and all.

But in life there are twists and turns and everything happens for a reason...it turns out that the pup we were gonna take home at the end of May (the only male in the litter of 2) has an extreme over bite which will in turn need major surgery to correct because this gets very painful for them over time...the breeder we are working with knows our history and our extreme vet bills and the stress that it has caused us both emotionally and financially. She highly recomended that we don't put ourselves through this and wait a little longer for the "perfect" puppy.

- SWEET -

The good news is that the litter that is due shortly are fathered by the dad who we originally met in the beginning and fell in love with! Everything about him...from his mannerisms...right down to his handsome build.

The down side is that we have to wait a little longer and will not have him until Sept...but the good news is that we can save a little more money to buy him everything he needs and at least the weather is still nice enough out in Sept for training purposes.

Expanding Our Family...

Well if you made it to the end of the week with all my shenanigans...congrats to you! I know some of you are dying to know what the news is, so here it is......

As some of you may or my not know, Adam and I have been wanting to expand our family for quite some time now...ever since we got married (just under a year ago) and our beloved animals past our house has been a very quiet place...and just that..."a house" not "a home".

What better way to make a house a home then to fill it with a family right?

We still have yet to meet our little guy... he was born on March 20th from a litter of only 2 pups, one boy and one girl (small litter for a weimaraner mommy)
We get to meet him this week-end and take him home on the 21st of May at about 8weeks old...
we are so excited!

Feathered Headband...

I just love the way the feathers whisp across the face, it can be worn both ways with the feathers towards the front or with the feathers towards the back.

So awhile back I started making these adorable flower head pieces...I haven't started selling them in my shop as of yet because they all went to a local hair salon that I sell my jewels at

They were a big hit and I've been meaning to get around to creating more and finally get them listed in my shop

Yesterday I felt inspired by the blooming flowers around me and created this beauty...

but the question is...Should I make it into a band or a clip?

My morning walk was beautiful!

The Cherry Blossom trees are starting to bloom and the sweet smell of summer is in the air...the lake is calm, the sky is blue, and the view of the distant mountain tops still have a dusting of white snow on them

I just love Cherry Blossom Trees! This one, this morning... inspired me

when I returned from my walk I created this beautiful Cherry Blossom pendant
